The Starlight Carolers

Music to create a Holiday Memory

By Appointment Only

   1940's USO

During WWII, we were united as a country as much or more than during any other war. Rations were tight, and resources were scarce. The ladies created looks by customizing garments from the previous decade and expertly stretching a dollar in the name of beauty, much to the delight of their soldier boyfriends on holiday weekend leave.

This was the decade of “The Christmas Song,” “White Christmas,” “The Christmas Waltz,” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” At the cinema was Miracle on 34th Street and It’s A Wonderful Life.

The USO shows were first organized in 1941 for service men and women in the states and abroad.
